I had an odd de ja vu type movie going experience over the weekend. Have you ever gone to see a film and come away from it feeling die hard emotions in one direction and then seen in again later on and had a totally different reaction? The first time I saw Resevoir Dogs my grandmother was visiting and she kept walking through the living room whispering "dirty filth, foul mouthed trash!" not exactly under her breath. As a result, it was years later before I actually realized that the movie had a plot and wasn't just a sensationalist piece designed sepcifically to infuritate the hypocritical elderly. Then there was the time that I went to the theatre to see Mystery Men with a girl who annoyed me to no end on a regular basis, but had a car when I didn't. The movie was ruined; saw it again, laughed until I cried. On the other hand, the first time I saw Amelie I was crazy in love, and watching it again, its just not the same.
