How Come No One Has Put Mr. Ferm In His Place?
Warm greetings. I somehow stumbled upon this site and marveled as I read through the numerous bashings Monsieur Ferm has entertained in. I wonder, though, how come none of those which have emailed the dear sir have stood their ground. I also wonder...how come this beloved critic has come to enjoy putting so harshly down those who take the time to write him. I began to speculate and here is what I have come up with. 1.) Perhaps this dear fellow was abused as a child, feeling too insecure about his own self that he subconsciously decided that he must, for the rest of his life, put on airs of his self-assurance and abuse others through his right of language. 2.) Even though his parents were quite kind and loving to him, poor Colin was the blacksheep, and decided to wreak havoc upon "The Little People" and anyone who dared question his logic. Of course, how could "Lord Ferm" be wrong? He is the pinnacle of the human race, and we are all but peasants for his Lordship to squash without thought. 3.) Mr. Ferm may not be human. I believe I once read about a planet which was inhabited by self-centered beings once, and he has my deepest and sincerest pity if he is among that race. The story did not end well. Au revoir, mes amis! ~Garishlight P.S. If I am not mistaken, which I assure you I am not, Sir Ferm has also made quite a few blunders in his prose himself.

    You are not mistaken
I have made more than a few blunders in my writing. It is interesting that you take issue with that one section of this website however, since there are other parts which clearly describe drinking, acting rudely, as well as the act of kicking dogs from roofs.

But c'est la vie. What am I to do?

    Of course not...
Oh, but Sir, you have EVERYTHING to do. You write these things, and ultimately doesn't that mean that these ideas manifest from your magot infested mind? And does this not mean that you control what you choose to submit on this lovely website of yours? Hmm...perhaps not. Eternal love! ~Your biggest fan, Garishlight

    So what are you suggesting?

I respond to various letters that people send me, it is true, but many of them plain insult my character or wish physical harm upon my person. Over what? That I relieved myself into their coffee? No. That I impregnated their sisters? Funny, but no. That I killed their parents in a dark alley leading them to become the costumed avenger they are today? I wish. No. Over a review I wrote of an album put our by a band they like.

Now maybe it's just the way I was raised, but I never thought of those as fighting words. Yet fight these people do. So I respond in the only way I can which is anything but seriously. I do send the responses back to them first with the hope being that they might realize how nutty it is to get so worked up over something they have no control over. Sadly, those that do are few compared to rest.

Yet you call my mind "magot[sic] infested?" This makes no sense. Making fun of people too impassioned to see straight seems less bothersome than the other topics discussed here. Which honestly makes me wonder if you are not one of them or a friend or relative.

    Mistaken
As I said before, I stumbled upon this site. I have no relation to any of these rants towards you, or those who have contacted you. I do, however, believe that perhaps you should try to be more compassionate. The things they say might be silly, but they believe in what they write. It's fine to be proud of what you say, but to not treat people with respect, even if they are not giving the same to you, seems a bit low. Perhaps that's just the way I was raised...
