Failed Lovers Failed Friends...amusing? I often pop into this site on and off to check out the short stories and essays coz I love the way they're written and the perspective they offer. However, what was up with the latest Failed Lovers Failed Friends? It was so one-sided that I couldn't help but find it amusing. I did not appreciate the fact that the story was written entirely from the male character's point of view without any insight into what the female character was going through...except that she was the bad one who was ruining everything. Come on ... he didn't call her for 3 weeks and she still stayed with him? This makes the character appear unreal...or the only other explanation is that she must've really liked the loser. When a relationship breaks both sides are to blame and I wish this story would've at least considered the female character's side of the story. For example, we know that she kept bringing up issues that were already resolved but one line about what these "issues" were would've been fair to her. I mean the male character is not very likeable so maybe there some basis for bringing the issues up. Honestly I'm not a burn-your-bra feminist but the male-was-good, female-was-a-bitch storyline is nothing but a cop-out for the guy. I don't mean to offend anyone and apologies if I did so, [sincere apologies to the writer as well] but any woman who has been in one of those "oh-but-I-tried-so-hard-to-make-it-work" relationships knows what I'm talking about. Otherwise, all the other stories are just great : ) Posted by mystique There are 1 replies thus far >> (December 15, 2003 - 12:26 PM)
Virago So I went down to my local cafe /bar /bohemian hippie hang out, sat down at the bar and downed three shots of gold tequila. This is somewhat of a ritual for me, the intention behind it to get a quick buzz on and look as cool as possible doing it. This time though, there was a snag in the plan you see, after downing the last shot I found that my airways had become completely constricted. Its really hard to look cool when you are ghasping for air and its really hard to ghasp for air while looking cool. Luckily, the girl behind the bar knew exactly what was going on. She fixed her stare on my watering eyes untill she was sure I would survive, and then went about her buisness like nothing had happened. Faith, the lovely barmaid, I thank you for your intuive understanding of my fragile ego.

The short films I came across this website by looking for old school buddies I used to know when I lived in Walnut Creek, CA. Basically trying to find out what everyone was up to. So I was just typing away and when I entered Colin Ferm and I came across this site and several other's linked to the same person. Now I don't know if this Colin Ferm has anything to do with the one I knew, but as I opened the website I decided to have a closer look, especially at the short films. Even though each film isn't longer than 2-3 minutes it gets you to think, like the "American Dream". Great website.

You have a new fan on this side of the atlantic, so don't stop writing! I'll definately come back for more :) Posted by bumblebee There are 0 replies thus far >> (August 26, 2003 - 11:42 PM)
Push it forward Great thing! It inspires me and makes me thinking about to focus on my own stuff and push it forward. I will certainly try to continue visiting spudworks and reading your essays - they've got something.
Had a wonderful time! (Sorry, if my English isn't that good.)

apology Previous cryptic message was not intended to be so, but I should have realized that you would yank the html-like tags. Stupid me. Just wanted to thank you for certain Black Francis material. Posted by mudchicken There are 0 replies thus far >> (April 30, 2003 - 11:09 AM)

circumlocution. I am satiated with plethoras of vituperative tumults bombarding me with a barrage of execrable circumbendibae. The plenipotentiarys perorate and personify their pleibian tendancies with quotidian, impetuous soliloquys. discountenance indefatigable unremmiting sagacious insidiousness with sesquicentennial transmogrification. The micturition extraction of this schadenfreude is largely assosciated with my gargantian deoxyribonucleic acid. Posted by amazin There are 1 replies thus far >> (April 3, 2003 - 6:15 AM)
