#42 - Asimov's, 'No' Again
04.02.2008

So... Tonight wasn't a good night, for reasons I won't go into. It started well enough, as these things do, but it ended badly.

Yes... I ended up at the bar, drunk as I always do. But whatever...

Anyway... I got home - or stumbled, you be the judge - and found in my mailbox rejection number forty-two from Asimov's Science Fiction. It was the same reply as before except that it was for Drug Enforcement. Again, I won't quote the letter because it duplicates what was said before and doesn't add anything new.

One interesting thing was that they added the first page of the story again which I described before.

But that's not that interesting at this point. What's most interesting is that they didn't add any personal comments.

Oh well.

So that makes rejection number seven for Drug Enforcement after twenty-six days. I have six more places on my list to send it but I don't hold high hopes. Not because I don't think it's a great story, because it is, but because I've basically given up on editors seeing what my thing is.

Oh well.

"Oh well" is starting to become my Vonnegut "Hi ho" in this post but who the fuck cares? I'm drunk as I type this and don't, myself, so why should you?

So there.

Anyway... this makes rejection number forty-two after twenty-six days from Asimov's, rejection number two from them personally.

For those interested, they are averaging twenty-six days for each rejection. Drug Enforcement is also back at number one for rejections with a lead of one over Ayla Athena. Not that I think you care. I just thought I would show off the stats I keep.

So... Ha!

Anyway... I might be single again so I don't actually care about this shit right now. I'll update you when I do.

MAIL this to a friend. They'll thank you for it later.
